Brake
controls by REESE ® are 100% solid-state electronics designed for use
with two to eight brake systems. These units meet
all national highway traffic safety administration regulations regarding
tow vehicle/trailer stoplight activation. Its ease of operation
and innovative design features make it the perfect choice for today’s
towing vehicles.
On
the REESE Brakeman brake controls, an output control is located on the
front of the unit for easy adjustment. The Brakeman-Compact
uses a slide adjustment. The Brakeman-Digital has a thumb-wheel
adjustment. The Brakeman-Compact
has
a red indicator light on the front of the unit which illuminates when the
brakes are applied. The Brakeman-Digital has a digital display on the
front of the unit which indicates the output and "sync" setting
when a trailer is connected and trailer brakes
are applied. In the case of an overload, caused by either a short or low
power supply, the Brakeman-Digital will display an
overload warning. Both REESE Brakeman brake controls are covered by
additional circuit protection. They will not be damaged
if the black and white wires are reversed and they will also not be
damaged in the event of a short, if no ground or a poor
ground exists. To compensate for trailer load changes and driver
preferences, adjustments can be made by using the slide
control located on the side of the unit. The driver can control the rate
of brake application from soft to aggressive by simply
moving this control forward or backward. Since the unit has no moving
parts or pendulums to adjust, it can be mounted in
virtually any position. Mounting bracket and hardware are included. Its
slim design and contoured shape are combined to provide
more under-dash clearance than most brake controls on the market today.
Trailer brakes may be manually applied by squeezing the manual control,
located on the front of both units. This control also triggers the trailer
and tow vehicle’s stop lights
when brakes are applied.
