Helix Power Tower

Installation Instructions

(1999-2001 GM C/K 1500/2500 5.3L V-8 VORTEC Part #53015)

Important! Read all instructions before you begin installation.

1.      Remove the plastic engine cover (VORTEC is on it) by loosening the two 8mm bolts.

2.      Loosen the clamp the holds the air induction system to the throttle body.

3.      Unfasten the radiator hose to air cleaner assembly. Unclamp and remove the top air cleaner box and remove the air induction assembly (with the air cleaner attached). Set aside until reassemble is necessary in later steps.

4.      Remove the throttle body from plenum by unbolting the three hold-down nuts.

5.      Remove the three mounting studs that are screwed into the intake manifold.

6.      Remove the throttle cable assembly from the top of the intake manifold.

7.      Attach the throttle cable extension bracket to the intake.

8.      Install the Street & Performance Helix Power Tower between the intake manifold and throttle body assembly. Now slip the supplied gasket between the Power Tower and throttle body assembly. Fasten the Power Tower and throttle body with the supplied longer bolts.

9.      Reattach the throttle cables and the air induction assembly. Make sure that the throttle body is at a closed idle (adjustment of the cruise control cable maybe necessary to keep engine from a fast idle).

Note: you may notice an occasional high-pitched whistle while driving. This is normal.
