Installation Instructions
(1996-2000 Chevrolet C/K Pick-up 5.0/5.7L Part # 15720)
Important!
Read all instructions before you begin installation.
1.
Unlatch
air filter housing. Remove the duct retainer bolt from throttle body.
Disconnect the MAF sensor and ACT sensor harness plugs. Remove the air inlet
assembly from vehicle. Dismantle the air inlet assembly by removing the MAF
sensor, ACT sensor and rubber bushing and the inlet muffler assembly.
2.
Remove
the 13mm bolt from underside of fender well to remove the air filter housing
assembly.
3.
Install
AIRMAX filter housing using two existing holes in fender. Use the supplied
5/16” bolts, washers and nuts and tighten to 10 ft/lb. Using the AIRMAX housing
as a guide, mark and drill third retaining hole with a 5/16” drill. After this
hole is drilled finish this step by bolting the third remaining bolt, washer
and nut. Torque this bolt to 10 ft/lb. Install ACT rubber bushing and ACT
sensor to the AIRMAX housing.
4.
Install
the new K&N filter.
5.
Install
MAF sensor to inlet plenum with supplied 3.5” band clamp. (Note: airflow
direction on MAF sensor should follow point towards throttle body)
6.
When the
muffler assembly was removed from the inlet assembly, install the supplied
rubber cap and clamp.
7.
Install
OE air inlet tube with modified inlet housing to MAF sensor and throttle body.
Install original retaining bolt to hold assembly in proper formation.
8.
Make sure
that all connections are firm and tight. And loosened connections could cause
erratic engine behavior, engine stalling and improper operation.
