Installation Instructions

(1999-2001 Chevrolet Silverado 4.8/5.3/6.0L Part #15300)

 

Important! Read all instructions before you begin installation.

 

1.      Loosen clamps at the throttle body and MAF (Mass AirFlow). Disconnect MAF harness.

2.      Release the radiator hose/vent line retainer from air inlet box. Remove air inlet box from vehicle. Finish removal by lifting the remaining air filter assembly from the vehicle.

3.      Remove the two inboard bolts (10mm) from the air tray. Place the AIRMAX air filter assembly in this tray and retain with the same 10mm bolts from previous step. (Note: if you have a Helix Power Tower, slide the housing forward) Install the K&N filter.

4.      Install a 4” band clamp on the housing and then the MAF. Tighten snug till future step. Install a 3.5” band clamp on the MAF housing, leaving this loose till future step.

5.      Remove the throttle-body clamp from OE housing and trim the two rubber tabs from the rubber boot. With the arrow pointing upward, install this clamp on the AIRMAX plenum. On 2001 models remove the clamp from the OE air box and use for this step.

6.      Loosely install the AIRMAX plenum to throttle body. Aligning the opening of the plenum towards the MAF and the band clamp from earlier installation. Fit both the plenum and MAF together joining them together with the band clamp. (Note: if you have a Helix Power Tower, remove the four fan shroud retainers and unbolt the two upper shroud bolts tilting the shroud so that it will rest on fan lightly)

7.      The rubber coupler from the band clamp is to seal the gap in between the air plenum and MAF. Once the coupler is set, tighten the clamp by tightening the two worm gear clamps on the band clamp. Tight enough so that the plenum does not slip in the coupler and the MAF does not slip in the coupler. Repeat this step for the filter housing and MAF. Install filter and tighten clamp. Lastly, tighten the plenum to throttle body clamp.

8.      Hook up harness plug to the MAF.
