Performance Information
For as long as hot rodders have been tinkering on cars, it has been widely know the advantages headers provide when it comes to making power. Even the editor’s at Hot Rod magazine list headers as one of the 10 most important upgrades when improving performance.
In the early 80’s JBA developed the world’s first smog legal direct-replacement header. Dubbed the “shorty” this innovation of the old long tube design yielded the performance hot rodders were looking for with a bullet-proof design that was easier to install and could survive the abuse of racing and daily driving.

Headers has led the industry for over a decade with cutting edge designs,
heavy-duty features and patented technology to provide durable performance
products for our customers. When upgrading to a set of JBA Headers you
will improve the acceleration, throttle response, and even the fuel economy
of your vehicle. You will also make the engine more sensitive to subsequent
modifications such as aftermarket intake systems, camshafts, cylinder
heads, and especially superchargers.
Typical
performance gains for today’s fuel injected V-8 engines will be anywhere
form 10-25 horsepower and similar numbers for torque. V-6 applications
will see a gain of 10-15 horsepower. How much performance you gain will
depend on the condition of your vehicle and the upgrades you have already
made. On supercharged applications you will see a more dramatic increase,
as much as 40+ horsepower is common.
To
show how serious we are about making power we decided to run shorty headers
on our 920 horsepower Mustang drag car. With 28 lbs. of boost at 7200
rpm the exhaust temperature that this engine produces well exceeds what
the average street car makes. And they look as good now as they did when
we first bolted them on.
